Our journey began one day when my wife and I were planning a summer trip to some foreign country. We decided it was best to visit Croatia, since we've heard a lot of good things about that country from our friends. We chose Crikvenica as our main holiday destination. The city is situated on the Adriatic near Rijeka. My wife has asthma problems so the climate in Crikvenica was really good for her. Crikvenica is also considered a natural health resort. Together with Selce, it is one of the most attactive parts of the Kvarner. This year, we agreed to rent a nice little boat in order to explore Croatia. A real adventure awaits anyone who chooses this way of travel. Lucky for us, we didn't have to search too long for a boat renting company. We found one online and were very pleased with the service. The name of the company is SailingEurope and I would recommend it to everyone looking to rent a quality vessel.

Upon reaching Crikvenica, we set anchor in the main harbor. Once we've gathered our things, we proceeded to explore the town on foot. The day was sunny and hot, with no wind indication. Our sailing trip went smoothly. But, it isn't always like that. During spring or autumn, the weather is a little bit trickier and I wouldn't advise anyone to sail on their own. At least not without a skipper or whole crew. The thunderstorms and vicious winds (bura) are not to be taken lightly.

The main attraction for most tourists that visit Crikvenica are the sandy beach resorts. The water is crystal clear and great for swimming. There's fun for the whole family! It's never a boring day in Crikvenica. After a whole day of swimming and relaxing on the beach, we were beginning to feel a bit hungry so one of the locals told us of an excellent restaurant not far from Crikvenica. It was in a small village nearby, called Selce. The name of the restaurant is "Konoba Toc". Some of the best fish delicacies can be ordered there. I had the mackerel, and my wife had the grouper. Both were very delicious!

It was still early in the evening so we took the taxi back to the town of Crikvenica. We had the pleasure of enjoying the rest of the night filled with music and dancing. It was very romantic and great fun. The town really springs back to life during the evening hours!

Next year we are sure to come back to Croatia and visit another popular tourist destination. If you're ever planning on visiting Croatia, we hope you will have a great time, as much as we did. Have a safe trip! Enjoy.

The Crikvenica Riviera offers plenty of opportunities for a holiday full of interesting activities. The area’s beautiful sandy, pebbly and rocky beaches, peaceful coves, crystal clear sea, elegant promenades and air filled with the fragrances of the magnificent Mediterranean plants provide a perfect setting for relaxation in lovely natural scenery and a balmy climate.
